CoverSentry is a free, privacy-first tool that checks whether a cover letter appears AI-generated. Built on a fine-tuned BERT language model trained on a custom dataset of thousands of cover letters, it analyzes your text for patterns typical of machine-generated writing and returns a detection score with a plain-language explanation of what it means, helping job seekers avoid recruiter red flags before submitting an application.

You can upload a cover letter in PDF, DOCX, RTF or TXT format, or paste the text directly, and get instant results with recommendations to make the writing more human, such as adding personal touches, varying sentence structure and including specific examples. Processing happens on-the-fly on secure servers with no data storage, no cookies and no sign-up required for scans. Detection currently supports English only.

Beyond detection, CoverSentry offers a cover letter generator that creates personalized, human-like letters using premium third-party AI providers under GDPR, plus a free CV builder with ATS-friendly templates, live preview, 1,200+ job titles with suggested bullet points, and PDF or DOCX export with no registration.
