Description
KindredMind is a voice companionship service for families navigating dementia. It answers calls from a loved one with dementia in the caregiver's own voice, using a personalized knowledge base the caregiver builds, so a familiar voice is always reachable even when the caregiver cannot answer.
Setup starts with a short guided voice session that produces an Initial Voice, which can be deepened into a Refined Voice with a plan. Caregivers teach KindredMind their loved one's routines, the people they love, and calming words, and approve everything before it enters the knowledge base. The companion follows the Alzheimer Society of Canada's communication guidelines and the principles of simulated presence and validation therapy, and can also proactively make gentle check-in calls and reminders on the caregiver's terms. If the caregiver prefers, a warm assistant voice can be used instead of their own.
KindredMind is built for mild to moderate dementia where the person still uses a phone independently, and supports 15 languages. It is not a medical or monitoring device; if something sounds like an emergency, it alerts the caregiver and a real person responds. Privacy is central: the loved one's calls are never recorded or used for training, and voice models train only the caregiver's private companion. Plans start at $129 USD per month, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card.
