Description
TestChimp acts as a QA workflow layer designed to enhance the efficiency and traceability of testing processes for agents. It brings together test plans, Smart Tests within your repository, CI integration, and production behavior into a single, cohesive loop. This integration ensures comprehensive coverage and clear traceability between what was planned, what was automated, and how users actually interact with the application.
The Chrome extension component of TestChimp seamlessly integrates this powerful workflow directly into the browser experience while users are testing their applications. This means that both manual test runs and script authoring remain intrinsically linked to TestChimp scenarios, preventing valuable testing data from being lost in scattered screenshots or ad-hoc notes.
With TestChimp, manual test sessions can be captured and directly tied to specific TestChimp scenarios, including branch and environment details. As you interact with the application, steps are recorded with screenshots for evidence. Users can add notes to any step, optionally tagging specific elements or areas for annotated screenshots. Sessions can be marked as passed or failed and then synced to TestChimp for historical records, reporting, and coverage analysis alongside automated tests. Exploratory testing sessions can also be used to report bugs, with elements or areas tagged for precise bug tracking within TestChimp and visible in the Atlas page and bug listings.
The 'Script Gen' feature allows for the creation of Smart Tests directly from browser actions. By starting step capture, users can record their interactions, generating Playwright commands and page context. This capture can then be transformed into a Smart Test, which includes Playwright scripts with optional AI-native steps like `ai.act("…")` for resilient automation and guided exploration. Captures can be initiated from test planning stages, ensuring new tests are correctly associated with their respective scenarios. Documentation for the Chrome extension is available at https://docs.testchimp.io/chrome-extension/intro.
