Agent Zero AI Framework

Agent Zero is an open, dynamic AI agent framework providing a full Linux system within a Docker container. It features a real desktop environment, a browser with DOM annotation, and a plugin hub for extensive customization and integration, enabling complex agentic workflows.

Description

Agent Zero is an open-source, dynamic, and organic agentic framework designed to provide a comprehensive Linux system within a Docker container. This framework empowers AI agents with a full desktop environment, complete with a graphical user interface and a plugin hub, allowing for extensive customization and extension through skills.

At its core, Agent Zero offers a real Linux desktop session running inside the container, not a remote VM. This enables agents to interact with actual desktop software, such as Blender for 3D modeling, or command-line interfaces, providing a tangible environment for task execution. Users can observe and intervene in the agent's actions in real-time.

The framework also includes a built-in browser with an optional live surface in the Canvas. This browser supports DOM annotation, allowing agents to modify webpages via JavaScript instructions, inspect elements for detailed information, lift components for re-implementation, and leave actionable comments for UI reviews. Browser history retains screenshots of key steps for context.

Agent Zero facilitates collaborative document work through a rich Markdown editor that supports live co-editing. Agents can create and update files character by character, with user edits treated as equal, first-class operations. Integration with LibreOffice Writer, Calc, and Impress allows for real-time creation, updating, and verification of ODT, ODS, and ODP files.

The Plugin Hub is a central component, offering over 100 community plugins that extend Agent Zero's capabilities. These plugins cover development frameworks, memory systems, tools, integrations, UI extensions, and workflow automations. Users can install plugins with a click or publish their own.

Furthermore, Agent Zero supports connecting to OpenAI Codex plans via OAuth, allowing agents to utilize existing plans. The A0 CLI Connector extends the agent's reach to the host machine, enabling it to work with local files and repositories outside the Docker container. Projects provide isolated workspaces for instructions, memory, secrets, and knowledge.

Agent Zero is designed for transparency and extensibility, with prompts, tools, and built-in behaviors being inspectable and modifiable. It supports multi-agent cooperation, where superior agents can delegate tasks to subordinate agents for complex problem-solving. The framework is ideal for software engineering, data analysis, design iteration, and office deliverables.
